The approach I take towards expression stems from the relationships that become apparent by traversing various "elements" such as environment, topography, and culture. In a nutshell, it is "mapping." The starting point was in 2012, when my uncle's heirlooms, such as a violin and photos of his grave (in Siberia), served as triggers. In the summer of 2016, I headed to Irkutsk to trace the footsteps of my uncle's Siberian internment and conducted a survey. In the winter of 2020, I had the opportunity to participate in an artist residency on Olkhon Island, which floats on Lake Baikal (in Siberia), and was able to create works on site. This time, I would like to exhibit works from both summer and winter, along with newly created pieces, and wish to deepen my thoughts through the "something" that emerges from the current social situation.
